Mars Conjunct Neptune :: April 12th 2026

A fiery red planet and an icy blue planet nearly touching surrounded by colorful cosmic clouds and stars

Mars entered Aries on Thursday April 9 2026. This puts Mars in a safe place to express itself. Generally, with Mars in Aries, we would expect a free flowing of life force. Doing what we want, going where we choose, starting activities with exuberance and passion. This, however, is not the case here in 2026.

In January and into February of 2026, Neptune and then Saturn entered the cardinal fire sign. They gained a conjunction on February 20th and are in close relationship for the Spring and share a sign for the next two and a half years.

Currently occupying the 2nd and 5th degrees of Aries, they are shifting the way any planet in that area may express itself. Mars, when free to roam and be inspired in Aries, has plenty of pioneering and life affirming energy. When confronted with Neptune, Mars gets a little lost. The GPS doesn’t really work. The motivations just seem to bleed out into the ether. Mars at the first degrees of Aries represents life getting going and getting moving. Neptune dissolves direction and movement is thwarted as momentum and traction are hard if not impossible to come by. Instead, physical energy moves into the ethereal and looks for a place to express.

Mars is conjunct with Neptune on Sunday the 12th of April. This aspect is alive as of the 8th but will be especially potent this weekend and Sunday, with lingering energy through the beginning of the week. Some questions are posed by this connection.

Why am I doing this?
What am I doing here?
Does any of this matter?
Why is this happening?
What do I want?
Why do I want it?

In addition, desires, wants, wishes and needs can get confusing and blurry. Is someone else supposed to give you something? Anything at all? These energies can confuse boundaries and cause some ‘less than fun’ arguments. Issues that arise at this time do NOT have a solution. Instead, consider them indicators of wrong turns or missteps. That doesn’t mean they are to be ignored, but instead of acted upon and dramatized, they are to be investigated as to their true underlying meaning.

A few keywords come to mind for this transit…

Misguided
Lackluster
Overdone
Drama
Confusion
Exhaustion
Restlessness

Yes, certainly this aspect can have us very restless. We know the energy of Mars as something that is meant to DO something or go somewhere. Neptune thwarts both of these goals. In a way, this is Neptune’s job. We may question everything to the point where we decide what IS and what IS NOT worth our time and energy. In the wrong mindset, we could see our very existence and NON ESSENTIAL. This lack of purpose can be debilitating. So do your best to control your frame of mind.

Sometimes we need to rest and other times we need to just do something JUST BECAUSE. A quick walk around the block or a few deep breaths will be the difference between peace and chaos.

There is a burden with Neptune. The burden is knowing that nothing matters the way it appears that it does. Neptune can obliterate the ego and also expand it beyond healthy levels. Neptune can leave us reaching for more, as the physical seems to lack the punch we need to get by. The good news is, we will continue searching if we are left unsatisfied.

Neptune aspects have a way of dissolving everything we thought we knew or believed in. Neptune is associated with the mystifying energy of religious or spiritual experiences. That feeling of experiencing something that goes beyond your known or expected reality. Through Neptune, we find the more expansive and deeper form of the norm. We relinquish consistent substructures and discover vast untapped energies. This process asks us to go through spiritual journeys that aren’t always pretty.

The transformations associated with Neptune transits always have some sort of death or loss attached to them. For we must die to something in order to be reborn into something new. We could fight tooth and nail to hold onto things, only to have them ripped from our exhausted hands. Or, we could acknowledge, through reflection and intense self confrontation, that some things need to come to an end, that we need help, that we need a change, that something just isn’t working for us.

Again, I urge you to consider the inner world and how to shift perspective, faith, self talk and overall self love. It is through this process that we will understand how and why the outer world triggers us. Whether that is a partner, a job, a child or the happenings on the planet.

When we shift these parts of ourselves, the world around us is infinitely easier to contend with. For as long as we are blind to our triggers and emotional patterns, we are just fighting ourselves everywhere we look. Towing an anchor and leaving it at the foot of our bed every night. When we wake up, we grab it and take it to our job, our families, our partners, our creative pursuits and our self care.

Neptune asks us to get to know a different way of being. To trust that we can let go and things will still turn out okay. Maybe it needs to fade into nothing or maybe it needs to burn the ghosts out of your soul. One way or another, with Neptune, you are not in charge.

Choose your lane wisely, faith is the bridge between who you are and who you need to become.
