Strangely Productive :: Sun Square Saturn // December 15th

The Sun moves into square with Saturn all day Tuesday
perfecting at 8:30 Pacific / 9:30 Mountain.

Mars, the Sun and Venus will all form squares to both Saturn and Neptune here in mid December. Mars ran its course already, now it is the Suns turn. Venus isn’t far behind.

Sun square Saturn is helpful energy. This is the energy to approaching challenging tasks and find a route to get things done. While there is certainly room to be discouraged, with the right mindset, that discouragement quickly turns into focus and drive.

The Sun and Saturn in square is interesting as they are both unyielding. You really can’t effect either of them. So as these two come together, something has to give. At the same time, things will keep moving. The signs in which they both exist ((Saturn in Pisces Sun in Sagittarius)) indicate that, in the end, it’s not as serious as it seems. Any lingering overwhelm or heaviness from the morning will dissipate by late evening/tomorrow morning.

Where we are frustrated by something, it may feel that we have to figure it out or create some definition. Most likely, we just need to change our approach and shift our own energy. Sun square Saturn says ‘stop, but don’t stop living’. So what is it that we are doing that we just don’t need to do? Where are we spending vital life force overthinking or overdoing? Maybe there is an easy task that is taking up too much of your mental space. Maybe there is something that you do everyday that takes up too much of your time without return on investment. If something isn’t working for you on either of these levels, it can be highlighted today. If you can clear it, do that, it’ll feel good.

Engage the industrious nature of this transit to change what irks you. Things are meant to improve today through focus and work. Pisces and Sagittarius tell me that this is more of an exciting and spiritual endeavor than it is a physical one. Mars moved into Capricorn early on Monday morning, so within this transit there is a practicality. Get rid of what you don’t need and take stock of what you do have.

Spiritual Masochism

Masochism isn’t just for the physical. Yes, you may like running ultramarathons or working 70 hours a week, but we can also enjoy different types of suffering. Organized religion is very adept at creating martyrs. As a child I was told to believe that I was inherently broken and had to earn God’s love. I know as an adult this is a ridiculous concept, but I didn’t always know this. This is just one example of how we can become addicted to and enjoy spiritual suffering.

Groveling at the feet of a disapproving and judgmental God. Who needs that?

Where have we refused to forgive ourselves? Was there something that happened 14 years ago (Neptune into Pisces) that has been hanging over your head? Are there memories from previous relationships or childhood that make you wince at the thought?

Forgive yourself

Whether it is disappointment with ourselves or others, it is really all the same. We can’t carry a grudge towards others without carrying it within ourselves. We don’t need this energy in any way, but somehow it feels comfortable and safe.

As Mars, Sun and Venus square Saturn and Neptune, we can look at these things and put them away.

We don’t have to suffer because we made mistakes. We can trust ourselves to be good people, even if there isn’t a vengeful God watching us. Through rebuilding our relationship to ourselves, we can rebuild our relationship to God. It is incredible to see how the world changes when we change ourselves from within.

Take this time to check in on how and why you suffer.
Do we really need to feel bad in order to grow?
Or is this just some outdated programming from a cult or previous generation?

This holiday season is primed to show us just how different we are from our family of origin. This time will expose where codependencies stifle our individuality within these same tightly knit units. If you feel the desire to do something different this year… then GO FOR IT! If, on the other hand, you plan on being in tradition with the family… then GO LOVE THE HELL OUT OF THEM! Do your best to avoid judgement and accept everyone (including yourself) for who you/they are. Everyone is a blessing. Some people, however, will remind you of the parts of yourself that you’d rather not see. Don’t shoot the messengers.

Strange Productivity

While this day holds the power to be very productive, you may have to think outside your normal definition of productivity.

Wherever you need to produce more joy and lightness, focus there. That could involve hard work like rearranging the shed or organizing the kitchen. More likely, it involves letting go of whatever you don’t need. As stated above, some habits aren’t worth their weight. Daily routines are under close watch. This time may be a period where you just do something different for the hell of it. Imagine just leaving your house without preparing anything at all, trusting that you can just make the best of any situation.

Do less to experience more.

Find a little adventure and push your edge. There is a new space somewhere that calls your name. If you can’t find it in the outer world, look for it on the inner.

If we are exhausted… rest is also very productive.
If this resonates with you, I love you, please take a break.
