Uranian Sea Changes :: 2.25-3.3.2017

I spent a decade of my life attached to my bike.  Whether I was headed to a birthday party, grocery shopping, or headed to work, I was pedaling like a mad man through traffic to reach my destination.  During this time, my life shifted in so many ways, some of them obvious, some of them not so obvious.  My legs were toned and I felt great relaxation at the end of the day.  I was seeing my city for all that it was, as opposed to driving or riding underground.  I was experiencing the elements at their full potential, getting me in touch with the beautiful, yet harsh, waves of seasonal changes.  There came a point, without warning, where I just stopped riding.  It wasn’t a slow decline or a problem with the machinery.  It was a decision to begin walking or taking the train.

Upon doing so, my body began to rejuvenate in so many beautiful ways, while my mood dipped pretty low as I no longer experienced nature, exercise, and that sense of freedom you get from being on two wheels.  I still remember wondering what exactly had shifted, resisting the change a bit, but all in all knowing that it was right.  Over the next few months I was offered more rideshares, people to walk and talk with, and even other lending their cars to me.  For all I knew, someone was watching and said “this guy is tired, let’s give him a break”.

As I look back at this time, it also coincided with a change in career, a slowing down of my mental processes, and an overall increase in my ability to focus.  I began to see my world more clearly and felt more grounded.  My hours of sometimes stressful exercise on a bike turned into relaxing meditative walks during my sessions.  Right before my eyes, my world was becoming more concrete.  It was during this time that it became incredibly clear to me that I was done living in the city I had called home for a decade.

It may sound trivial, something as small as riding a bike everyday.  However, the winds of change are always blowing, and it is virtually impossible to know the when, why, who, how, and where.  This simple shift allowed me to feel some pretty dark feelings.  Like anything, exercise can be overdone, and when we find ourselves overdoing, it often points to a lack somewhere else in our lives.  For me, I lacked happiness, peace, and pleasure.  I compensated by pumping my body with adrenaline as I slalomed through the busy streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn.  This activity sustained me, maintained my body, and kept my spirits high in a setting that, just didn’t resonate with my heart.  By stopping, I was forced to take a closer, slower, and less serotonin flooded look at my life.

By the time I decided to move, my kidneys were pretty run down.  My first months outside of New York were spent resting about fourteen hours a day, wondering what was going on with my body.  Eight months later, I can see that I was bordering on adrenal fatigue, and had to keep up impeccable and exhausting self care to ward off collapse.  I really can’t tell you what caused me to desire to stop biking, but I am so glad that I did.

Don’t be this guy or girl.

Changes don’t always come so easily and so gently, but there are ways to help yourself.  In my situation, I was willing to let go of my attachment to “being a biker” to “being green” to “being in great shape” because the energy of my life seemed to call for it.

Astrology of the Times

As Uranus, the planet of change, continues to be activated by Jupiter and Mars, expect even more of this heavy handed movement towards changes.  We can be so stubborn in our attachments, expecting the same processes to work regardless of how they have failed us in the past.  When we don’t get a job, when we lose a loved one, when we find out that we have been lied to, betrayed, or gossiped about.  We discover these things, and we FREAK OUT!  Months, years, and maybe even decades later we see how lovely our lives have become, not just in spite of the developments, but in large part BECAUSE of them.

The next week should be an intense wave of shift as Mars meets Uranus and as retrograding Jupiter comes back into alignment with opposing Uranus.  You may find that things are simply taken from your hands… let them go.  You may find that you “just don’t understand yourself”… good.  You may just find whatever it is that you forgot you were looking for… hello Soul growth!

The combination of Jupiter and Uranus ensure that the changes will be for the betterment of the collective, as long as you are willing to think critically and practically.  Mars will ensure that you DO have the energy to carry out these changes.

The final piece is up to you, and it has to do with the intuitive messages being delivered during this time.  Jupiter, Uranus, and Mars tend to trigger us into a reactive as opposed to responsive state.  We may be motivated to shift careers, leave lovers, or move to a different country.  When considering such large endeavors, it is best to consider and weigh out your options.  So, my friends, what are your practices for listening to your guides and higher self?  Whether it is meditation with crystals, walking slowly by a stream, or taking a bath with essential oils.  You MUST tune in and integrate.
